Team Alberta announces the Flagbearer and Banner carriers for the 2025 Canada Summer Games

Canoe/Kayaker Jonnie Newman will carry the Alberta Flag and lead Team Alberta into the 2025 Canada Summer Games Opening Ceremonies. Team Alberta’s Banner Carriers, Ethan Darpoh from Edmonton in the sport of soccer, and Lloydminster’s Katherine Thiessen in the sport of softball. These Team Alberta members have exemplified great leadership, sportsmanship and athletic abilities in their sport.

Major Sport Events Grant Program - Application open September 3

The Major Sport Events grant program (MSE) builds on Alberta’s reputation as an attractive destination with proven capacity for hosting a wide range of national and international calibre sport events. It recognizes the network of strong sport organizations who demonstrate the ability to collaborate and deliver high quality events. The program provides support funding to eligible nonprofit organizations to host world class national and international sport events in Alberta.
