Podium Alberta Eligibility Questionnaire

Podium Alberta Eligibility Questionnaire

Please complete the questionnaire to determine if you are eligible for the Podium Alberta Grant.

Were you carded through Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program (AAP) at any point between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026 (Year in Review)? Athletes will have been nominated by their National Sport Organization (NSO), approved by Sport Canada and will have signed an Athlete/NSO agreement. Funding from a Provincial Sport Organization does not qualify under this program.

Other Funding

If you have received funding through other provinces or territories, during the Year in Review (July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026), you are ineligible for funding through Podium Alberta.

We are sorry, you don't qualify for Podium Alberta funding

Only athletes carded through Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program are eligible to apply. These athletes are generally National Team or Developmental National Team Athletes, and have been identified as being on the Olympic and Paralympic pathways.

For more information on specific carding requirements for your sport, please contact your National Sport Organization.

You are eligible to apply next year.

If you have recently been carded, and your carding starts after June 30, 2025, you will be eligible to apply for Podium Alberta in 2027.

Please submit your name, sport and email, and you will be contacted regarding the process for applying.

Residency

You are eligible to apply this year

Please note that other factors affecting your application include the amount of eligible expenditures you incurred during the Year in Review (July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026) and your community service activities.

Expenditures: Podium Alberta provides funding to help offset living and training expenses. In effect, the program reimburses eligible expenditures. To qualify for funding your total expenditures for the Year in Review must exceed the amount of funding you received from Sport Canada. The minimum grant amount for the year is $100, so your eligible expenditures must be at least $100 more than your AAP carding amount. Ideally your total expenditures should exceed both your AAP carding amount and the maximum Podium Alberta funding for which you are eligible.

Community Service: Podium Alberta athletes must give back to their communities. Community service may include mentoring younger athletes (formally or informally), serving as an ambassador, volunteering with non-profit organizations, providing unpaid coaching in any sport or activity, serving on organizational boards (including athlete councils), or participating in other similar activities.

Please indicate your full name, email and sport. You will be contacted with instructions on how to apply.

Contact for residency clarification

Athletes that have moved to Alberta between July 1, 2022 and July 1, 2023 may be eligible for partial funding.
