Coaches must attend the full duration of the training to receive credit for their participation.
NCCP MAKE ETHICAL DECISIONS – 4 hours
Effective April 1, 2026, NCCP Make Ethical Decisions (MED) training and evaluation will be delivered as a single online eLearning module in the Locker. All coaches who have not yet completed the MED Online Evaluation before March 31, 2026, will be required to complete the new eLearning module which includes both training and evaluation.

By successfully completing the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions (MED) training, coaches will be fully equipped to handle ethical situations with confidence and surety. The training helps coaches identify the legal, ethical, and moral implications of difficult and potentially unsafe situations that present themselves in the world of team and individual sport.
Upon completing the MED module you’ll be able to:
- analyze a challenging situation and determine if it has moral, legal or ethical implications.
- apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to each situation in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics.
Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation:
The Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation provides the opportunity to apply the skills learned in the module to real life situations. After completing the module, coaches can access the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation at no additional charge through the Locker. Successful completion of the MED online evaluation is necessary to be certified in most sport-specific coaching pathways.

Planning a Practice module consists of two components:
- a five-hour in-class/online delivered module
- a free NCCP Emergency Action Plan eLearning activity
Coaches must complete both components to receive full credit for having taken the Planning a Practice Module.
Planning a Practice learning activities will prepare coaches to:
- explain the importance of logistics in the development of a practice plan;
- establish an appropriate structure for a practice; and
- identify appropriate activities for each part of the practice.
After completing the NCCP Emergency Action Plan eLearning activity, coaches will be able to:
- describe the importance of having an Emergency Action Plan (EAP);
- identify when to activate the EAP;
- explain the responsibilities of the charge person and call person when the EAP is activated; and
- create a detailed EAP that includes all required information for responding to an emergency.
A Home Study format is available for those coaches requiring an alternative learning option.

- active supervision; and
- the use of well-formulated feedback offered at the right time and with the right frequency
- use teaching assessment grids to gather objective information on teaching effectiveness and use this data to develop an action plan to enhance your own effectiveness as a teacher and coach.
