The purpose of these grants is to support initiatives that encompass a long-term strategic approach to coach and/or official development. Preference will be given to applications that go above and beyond a one-off event, and encompass a series of events or initiatives that align with Provincial Sport Organization’s long-term strategic objectives. Application Deadline is October 15, 2018 

Coaches & Officials Education Grant

This Grant will support an increase in the frequency of sport-specific coach and officiating workshops delivered across Alberta.  Priority will be given to strategies that address access and delivery in rural communities, and those that target under-represented and/or marginalized populations such as women and girls, persons with a disability, Indigenous peoples, the economically disadvantaged, and new Canadians.

Eligibility Criteria 
• Only Provincial Sport Organizations eligible for the Association Development Program may apply
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate an identified need as part of their long term strategic plan for coaches or officials and alignment with the Alberta Sport Plan.
• The maximum grant is $5,000/year  (non-consecutive year applications will be a higher priority)
• Eligible costs include learning facilitator expenses and workshop material

Coaches Evaluation Grant

This grant will support an increase in the number of coach and officials observations, evaluations and mentorship programs that help coaches and officials achieve fully certified status across the province.

Eligibility Criteria
• Only Provincial Sport Organizations eligible for the Association Development Program may apply
• The maximum grant is $2,000/year (non-consecutive year applications will be a higher priority)
• Eligible costs include coaches & officials developer training, evaluation fees, equipment and other required material

Above and Beyond Grant

The purpose of the Above and Beyond Grant is to provide support to coaches and officials to pursue educational or developmental opportunities.  Specifically, this is intended for a coach or an official who is in a unique situation (apprenticing, geographically isolated, disadvantaged) and experiencing extraordinary circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria 
• Coaches and Officials must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the Alberta Sport System
• Coaches must have achieved NCCP Competition-Introduction trained status or equivalent within their sport
• International coach & official opportunities require applicants to be in the process of achieving NCCP Certified status or equivalent
• Special consideration may be given Canada Games coaches working on achieving the required minimum standards for the Games
• For officials, he/she must be provincially carded, certified or accredited
• Applicant’s must be a current member in good standing of a Provincial Sport Organization
• Applicants must be permanently residing in Alberta and must have been a resident of Alberta for at least one year prior to applying
• Maximum grant per applicant is $2,000
• Limited to once in a lifetime funding
