Alberta Sport Connection offers the following Multi-Sport Competition Introduction Modules in Alberta: Make Ethical Decisions, Nutrition, Planning a Practice, Basic Mental Skills, Design a Sport Program and Teaching & Learning.
Alberta Sport Connection also partners with various groups across the province to deliver other Non-NCCP Professional Development opportunities for Coaches. Those open to the public are posted on the NCCP Locker Calendar.
In order for NCCP certified coaches to maintain their certified status, they will be required to obtain Professional Development (PD) points. PD points can be earned through a multitude of activities that coaches already participate in, including: national and provincial sport organization conferences and workshops, eLearning modules, NCCP workshops, coach mentorship programs, and active coaching. Coaches can also self-direct their learning and declare up to 3 PD points per maintenance cycle. In most cases coaches are already earning their required PD points — Maintenance of Certification Status is simply the introduction of tracking these points and recognizing coaches for their efforts. Coaches are the best people to identify their learning needs and interests.
The number of PD points required are sport specific, and should be confirmed by coaches logging into their Locker profile.
