The Coaching Association of Canada and Alberta Sport Connection recognize the value of having certified NCCP Coach Developers that are engaged in professional development programs which reinforce the values of lifelong learning and sharing amongst the coaching community.
Just as with coaches, in order for NCCP Coach Developers to maintain their certified status, they will be required to obtain Professional Development (PD) points. PD points can be earned through a multitude of activities that coaches already participate in, including:
Coaches can also self-direct their learning and declare up to 3 PD points per maintenance cycle. In most cases coaches are already earning their required PD points — Maintenance of Certification Status is simply the introduction of tracking these points and recognizing coaches for their efforts.
The number of PD points required are sport specific, and should be confirmed by coach developers logging into their Locker profile. For more questions regarding maintenance of certification please visit this page.
Alberta Sport Connection requires its Multi-Sport Coach Developers to attain a minimum of 20 professional development points every 5 years in order to remain an active Coach Developer.
