Football Alberta is conducting a Zone 8 selection camp this weekend for the Alberta Summer Games team.

The selection camp is open to all players who were eligible to play bantam football in the fall of 2009. Registration for the camp begins Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and runs for one hour. The cost for registration is $85.
All football-related events, including registration, are at St. Joe’s football practice field, adjacent to Kateri Drive.
“There are 35 spots (on the team) up for grabs,” Zone 8 head coach Anthony Wall said. “We’re expecting, in between, 70 to 75 players with some walk-ons coming. We’re taking registrations at the last minute.”
There are two scrimmages on Saturday, one at 10 a.m and one at 2 p.m., both two hours in length. On Sunday, the last scrimmage of the camp begins at 10 a.m. and finishes up at noon.
“Players can expect the typical football camp type atmosphere,” Wall said. “There will be some individual time and unit time, as well as a game during the second half of Sunday’s practice. It will be a typical football practice but the players will be assessed by all of the coaches on the field, so we can get the best athletes on the field.”
Following the final practice there will be a scrimmage at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
