Summer Submission Deadline: July 15th, 2016.
Fall Submission Deadline: October 15th, 2016.
As the leading priority of the Alberta Sport Action Plan, Alberta Sport Connection is committed to providing financial support to organizations and individuals to continue their pursuit of coaching and official excellence across Alberta.
The purpose of these grants is to support initiatives that encompass a long term strategic approach to coach and/or official development. Preference will be given to innovative applications that go above and beyond a one-off event, and encompass a series of events or initiatives that align with identified long term strategic objectives.
Above and Beyond Grant
The purpose of the Above and Beyond grant is to provide support to coaches and officials to pursue educational or developmental opportunities.
Specifically, this is intended for a coach or an official who is in a unique situation (apprenticing, geographically isolated, disadvantaged) and is experiencing extraordinary circumstances.
Provincial Sport Organization Coach & Official Education Grant
The purpose of the PSO Coach & Official Education grant is to improve access to coach and official education workshops. This grant will support an increase in the frequency of sport specific coach and official workshops delivered across Alberta.
This grant is specifically for Provincial Sport Organizations that are able to demonstrate significant needs and /or gaps as outlined within a detailed long term development strategy for coaches or officials. These needs should be in alignment with the Alberta Sport Action Plan.
Priority will be given to strategies that address access and delivery in rural communities, and those that target under-represented and/or marginalized populations such as women and girls, persons with a disability, economically disadvantaged, new Canadians, and Aboriginal peoples.
Coach Evaluations Grant
The purpose of the Coach Evaluations grant is to provide support to Provincial Sport Organizations to evaluate and certify coaches and officials. Specifically, to significantly increase the number of coach observations, evaluations and mentorship programs that help coaches and officials achieve fully certified status across the province.
